Except where otherwise described, all of the books and games below are somehow affiliated with me - either I wrote them, designed them, or helped write or design them.

The Sam Fiction Section

Sins of the Fathers, a novel set in the Wraith supplement Necropolis Atlanta.

This novel was written on contract from White Wolf. I was given specific parameters and told, "Write a novel." It had to be set in Atlanta, had to be about Wraith, had to involve certain characters. All in all, I feel I did OK. I wish I could have re-written the book a few more times, it would have improved drastically. Although it is currently out of print, Amazon will try to get it for you if you ask.

A story in The Beast Within called "Descent"

My second short story for White Wolf. I enjoyed writing about Anastasia, who was a character in my personal Werewolf Chronicle. This story was written to some extent to challenge Andrew Greenberg's assertion that vampires could not fall in love.

A story in When Will You Rage? called "Coyote Full Moon"

My Chronicle included a scene much like this story - the lady who played Andraste was an excellent roleplayer. I've always envisioned Get of Fenris Garou as being like klingons.

A story in Drums Around The Fire called "Night Flyer"

This is a myth story set in pre-historic time. I wanted to show the beginning of the Garou's relationship with spirits. The name "Night Flyer" actually came from a friend of mine from IRC, who was called Nightfly^. This book is out of print, but if you click on the link above, Amazon will try to get it for you.

The Role Playing Game Shelf

I have design, writing, or design contribution credits in all the below books. Most of them are still in print. This is as of June of 1999.

My very first published work at White Wolf was my essay in this player's guide.

The Hunter's Hunted (Vampire: The Masquerade)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

I wrote the artifacts for hunters in the back.

The Book of Nod (Vampire: The Masquerade) The Book of Nod (Vampire: The Masquerade)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

I really enjoyed writing Book of Nod. Many people have written me to ask how I wrote it. Chiefly it was through reading the Hebrew Bible in translation, several Hymns to Inanna, and letting it all percolate along with Indiana Jones-ish adventurer-vampire thoughts in my head. Ultimately, what poured out was from deep part of my subconscious, as there are times when I remember looking up at the word processor screen and not remembering what I had typed. "Church of Nod" followers to the contrary, folks, it's a work of fiction.

Werewolf 2nd Edition (Werewolf: The Apocalypse)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

I wrote the story of Death-Takes-Last, and as well, designed the new Renown system.

Click here to order it from Amazon.com.

Werewolf Player's Guide (Werewolf: The Apocalypse) Werewolf Player's Guide (Werewolf: The Apocalypse)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

The fetish creation "system" in this book is mine.

Bone Gnawers Tribebook (Werewolf: The Apocalypse)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

I had the most fun writing this book, and the comic that precedes it. I have taken MUCH too much ribbing for the rap on the back cover. And God, it is still terrible today.

Bone Gnawers is out of print, but it has been reprinted and bundled with two other books, Black Furies Tribebook and Children of Gaia Tribebook as Litany of the Tribes Vol. 1. Click here to order it from Amazon.com.

Book of the Wyrm (Werewolf: The Apocalpyse)Book of the Wyrm (Werewolf: The Apocalpyse)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

In the midst of this foulness, you will find the Maeljin Incarna, my creations.

Rite of Passage (Werewolf) Rite of Passage (Werewolf: The Apocalypse)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

I had thought that Rite of Passage was out of print, but apparently it's been bundled in with Valkenburg Foundation as a new book, "Werewolf Chronicles." I am happy with Rite of Passage. It was created with a group of new White Wolf writers, myself among them. We all contributed writing to the book. The adventure in Rite of Passage is fairly free-form and very adaptable to anyone's campaign. What's funny about it is that it is not at all what a typical Rite of Passage is supposed to be. One of my proudest moments at White Wolf came when a Native person came up to me and gave me an owl's feather (my totem) to thank me for writing a section of poetry within the book called "Litany of the Return."

Necropolis Atlanta (Wraith: The Oblivion)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

I guess Jim Moore gets top billing on this book now, no worries Jim. I enjoyed working on this book, but it was not my best work as I was in the middle of writing the novel listed above. Now that Jim has done several novels, I'm sure he understands. I created the vampires in the back, of which I am inordinately fond.

Wraith 2nd Edition (Wraith: The Oblivion)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

Rich Dansky did a total clean-up of Wraith. My words are still in there somewhere, I know, because I generated most of the text for Wraith 1st edition, working with Jen Hartshorn in her apartment over the most hellish winter of my entire life. 'Nuff said.

Mage 2nd Edition (Mage: The Ascension)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

I am listed as a design contributor on this book, but really this is mostly Phil Brucato's vision. And a damn fine one.

Click here to order it from Amazon.com.

Book of Shadows (Mage: The Ascension) Book of Shadows (Mage: The Ascension)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

I created the ornate Certamen system and wrote and designed the first information about the Council of Nine, from which so much other information comes.

Verbena Tradition Book (Mage: The Ascension)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

Nicky Rea saved my butt with this book, but I did the initial outline. Thanks, Nicky. Another victim of The Novel From Hell.

White Wolf has bundled the Verbena Tradition book with the Dreamspeakers and the Cult of Ecstacy books to form The Traditions Gathered II: Blood and Dreams. Click here to order it from Amazon.com.

Mage Tarot (Mage: The Ascension)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

Like Josh Timbrook, I had input in the stylistic qualities of this tarot deck, though Nicky and Jackie did an incredible job on it.

Click here to order it from Amazon.com. It is out of print, but Amazon will try to find it for you.

Changeling 2nd Edition (Changeling: The Dreaming) Changeling 2nd Edition (Changeling: The Dreaming)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

This was my favorite game to design. I had equal partnership in the design with Mark and Ian. My one regret: that Ian and I couldn't talk Mark out of the bloody Cantrip cards! Now at least, 2nd edition has none. Good job, Ian.

Immortal Eyes: The Toybox (Changeling: The Dreaming)

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

My last credited work with White Wolf. Thanks to everyone who sent me California information.

Click here to order it from Amazon.com.

The cover of the book Vampire: The Dark Ages for Vampire: The Dark Ages Published by White Wolf Game Studio

Published by White Wolf, Inc.

Mark sent me this book in the last phases of its inception, and I wrote a lot of "flavor text" for it. Some of that text was openly mocked, some of it was used in the final book. No credit, no $$ from the company. You can chiefly see my work in the Knights Templar section, those are word-for-word written by myself. Other bits and pieces were written by me, but again, not credited in this book.

Heaven and Hell for In Nomine Published by Steve Jackson Games

Published by Steve Jackson Games

I wrote an original version of Heaven (some called it the Star Trek Heaven) which was wholly disliked and absolutely thrown out. In the end some of my basic ideas about Heaven was put into the final wash, but other writers wrote it. Anyone who is interested in my version of Heaven, write me.

Liber Canticorum (The Book of Songs) (In Nomine)

Published by Steve Jackson Games

In The Book of Songs, I wrote the Songs of Battle and what were the Songs of Experience and Innocence, although those names were changed to protect the book from actually having any kind of literary appeal.

It's not yet available on Amazon.com.

Pax Dei (Ars Magica)

Published by Atlas Games

My very first RPG supplement. Written with my now-ex wife: she did the flavor text and yelled at me when I got something theologically wrong. I designed the systems and wrote the rest. Special thanks to the ancient Ars Magica mailing list for St. Nerius.

It's not yet available on Amazon.com.

By the way, here are some polemics I wrote about the gaming industry as a whole.
